Herbs for Smudging!
Smudging is a traditional ritual from the native people of both North and South America. The practice has spread around the world, and is used by many communities far removed from smudging's traditional home.
Smudging purifies and harmonises with smoke from specific sacred plants and herbs.
Traditional aromatic plants are held in high esteem and are used for cleansing, purifying and bringing positive influence into your living space.
The herbs are lit, the flame is gently blown out, and as the smoke arises a feather or wand is often used to move the smoke around the room or person. Best placed in a heat-proof
container, or on a bed of sand or gravel. Some smudgers walk arouond their home with the smudge, to cleanse and purify.
Most highly aromatic herbs can be used. The dried herbs need to be left long enough to tie into a bunch. Wire is better than string.
White Sage is used for cleansing the living space, and a second herb is used to bring in whatever influences you are looking for.
