Herbalist, Your very own herbal data base!

Herbalist is a low cost full featured comprehensive herbal database featuring over 300 herbs. Well researched information is included with each herb featuring a photo, scientific and common names, brief description of use, botany, medicinal uses as well as history & folklore. A complete list of herbs, indications, actions, chemistry, preparations and botanical terms may be found in the menu bar of Herbalist under 'help'.

The sophisticated search features allow you to identify herbs that are useful for a particular indication (similar to symptoms) as well as herbs that have a particular action on the body. You may refine your list of herbs by selecting both an indication and an action. As an example a search for the indication of 'Anorexia nervosa' and the action of 'nutritive' will result in a list of herbs that are both useful in treating Anorexia and have a nutritive effect on the body.

You are able to add your own information to the brief description, history & folklore and botany fields as well as your own common names. These are then included in the common name search

There are two additional free text fields where you may add your own information. For phytotherapy students or natural therapy practitioners, this information could include references and the latest research on particular herbs. For the herbal gardening enthusiast cultivation information or seed suppliers may be added. For the home herbal enthusiast, recipes or grandma's home remedies could be added into these useful fields.

Herbalist becomes your own personal knowledge base!

********************************************

I use herbalist to add notes for my own information. Everything I read about herbs that is of interest to me, in a magazine, newspaper, or anywhere else, I make a quick note in the Notes. That means that later on down the track I will have a data base full of invaluable herb information that I can use, that I would have otherwise have forgotten or lost! Patrick
