Herbs for Heartache!
Emotional pain should be as well respected and treated as physical pain is.
In Australia in 2004, over 50,000 couples divorced. It’s not known how many de facto and long and short term relationships ended.
For those initiating the break-up, the pain can be just as acute as those who have a break up sprung on them unexpectedly. There are feelings of guilt, was it my fault, what did I do wrong, etc, etc.
Many people just hide under blanket, so to speak. Others may start playing the field to prove they’ve still got it, so to speak, and both these options are not good ones.
About the worst thing you can do when your heart is broken, is cut yourself off from your friends, who will obviously be worried about you.
Men pull away more than women do, us blokes seem to think we are bulletproof, and tend to throw ourselves into work, or get involved in an active sport or hobby.
Women are far more likely to talk to friends, which is the best thing they can do. Both men and women are looking for reassurance, that it wasn’t their fault, etc.
If you have a friend who is going through a breakup, who has had their heart broken, be sympathetic, talk to them, draw them out. They may not realise it themselves, but heartbreak is a form of grief, and people going through this painful experience need support and comfort. It can take anywhere from 3 months to two years to get over a broken heart.
Making sense of heartbreak is also a key to getting over it. Talking about it to your friends is one way of dealing with that. Don’t play the blame game, by blaming it all on yourself or your ex-partner. Just try to make sense of it, and then take steps to get over it. Don’t be vindictive about your ex, and keep away from any people who are negative. Get on with your life!
In severe cases, see your natural health practitioner. Heartbreak can allow your system to run down, and you can more easily catch colds and viruses. Herbs for heartbreak include herbs to relax, and herbs to reduce stress and tension. Vervain, peppermint, rose petals, calendula, chamomile and lavender are all useful.
In the mornings try to drink an energy herbal tea, damiana, ginseng, liquorice, or sage, to boost your energy levels. Through the day and evening drink a calming herbal tea. Our Home Herb and Garden Heartbreak Tea is a fragrant blend of valerian, calendula, passionflower, and peppermint.
Try to drink three or four cups of herbal tea each day, Good luck, Patrick
